I come from the bloodlines of African & Native people, North Carolinian & Alabamian roots, born & bred in the Bronx, NY. Anthropologist, Published Writer, Activist, Educator, Lecturer. Former Public Educator & Media Coordinator of the Office of Public Interpretation Education of the African Burial Ground Project. My research & activism is centered around Race, Rape, Resistance, Retentions & Remembrance. My work is rooted in Remembrance of the intellectual, spiritual, Ancestors and through tangible monuments which hold memories of our individual and collective past. I create safe spaces for the exchange of ideas around difficult but necessary conversations. I am the Founder and Exec Dir of The Sankofa Projects and 4 E.V.E.R. (In the 4 directions of the Earth, I work to End Violence End Rape)I explore & dismantle systems of oppression. Mother of 2 incredible sons, Womanist, Humanitarian, Intersectional Feminist, Pourer of Libations Shekere player, Anti-Rape Activist, Wildlife Volunteer, WarriorTwo Spirit, Human Rights Activist. I stand at the crossroads of race, gender, sexuality & speak out against multiple forms of oppression.Seeker of justice and believer in our shared humanity.
